Double exposure: 2 moments in one
A photo serves, to me, as a capturing of a memory. To take a photo is to want a moment tucked away and saved for later. These memories are personal, but thats the appeal of a still frame: you can encaspulate the moment, but leave enough unsaid that the moment remains private. intimate for some, fantastical to others. With double exposure photography, you as the artist can play with the choice to add narrative. by including a second image, the visual story gets another chapter.
With analog film, the undeveloped photo leads images to be more by chance, as you don’t know what images you are overlapping. This leads to photos playing with texture and colors. The photo on the right is a digtal twist on this look, playing with different clarities between images while still getiing a “happy accident” double exposure.
The left image alternativly is more curated. Is he a ghost? What is this window? They appear to be apart of a larger story, yet using the same methods.
